Supervisors report to the Field Installations Manager based in Somerset, NJ.

\n

What you'll do

\n
    \n
  • Direct daily field installation work and lead crews of electricians, technicians and subcontractors on site.
  • \n
  • Plan each shift's manpower, materials, equipment, access requirements and work sequence.
  • \n
  • Verify fare gate layout, positioning, anchoring, power connections, communications cabling and network connections.
  • \n
  • Coordinate removal of existing equipment and installation of new fare collection equipment.
  • \n
  • Make sure work matches approved drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements and quality standards.
  • \n
  • Resolve field conflicts and escalate design discrepancies, RFIs, access constraints, material shortages and schedule risks.
  • \n
  • Run daily job briefings, pre-task planning, safety meetings and Job Safety Analyses, and enforce project and agency safety rules.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, agency representatives, inspectors and other trades.
  • \n
  • Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion and turnover.
  • \n
  • Keep accurate daily reports, manpower records, photos, installation checklists and as-built information.
  • \n
\n

What you bring

\n

Required

\n
    \n
  • 5+ years of field experience in electrical, low-voltage, systems installation, construction or transit infrastructure.
  • \n
  • 2+ years supervising or leading field installation crews.
  • \n
  • Hands-on installation experience with electrical, low-voltage, electromechanical, access-control, communications, fare collection, turnstile or similar systems.
  • \n
  • Ability to read construction and electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications and manufacturer documentation.
  • \n
  • Experience coordinating electricians, technicians, subcontractors, inspectors and engineering staff.
  • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of construction safety and field hazard controls.
  • \n
  • Experience overseeing installation quality, testing, punch lists, documentation and turnover.
  • \n
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain MTA, PATH/Port Authority, NJ TRANSIT or SEPTA site-access and safety credentials.
  • \n
\n

Preferred

\n
    \n
  • Work experience with NY MTA, PATH, Port Authority, NJ TRANSIT, SEPTA, Amtrak or another major transit agency.
  • \n
  • Current transit agency credentials or track-safety training (a strong advantage given the short assignments).
  • \n
  • Supervising installation of fare gates, turnstiles, fare collection, ticketing, access-control or security systems.
  • \n
  • Electrical or low-voltage trade background, including supervising union electrical or construction labor.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with outage planning, work permits, flagging, track-access rules and restricted work windows.
  • \n
  • Commissioning, field testing, troubleshooting and customer acceptance experience.
  • \n
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification; First Aid/CPR/AED or Competent Person training.
  • \n
\n

Strong candidates from airport, rail, security, access-control, industrial controls or telecommunications installation are also encouraged to apply. Experience limited to general building or civil construction, without systems installation, is not a fit for this role.

\n

Pay and schedule

\n
    \n
  • Pay: $55–$65 per hour, W-2, based on experience and credentials.
  • \n
  • Overtime: paid at 1.5x for hours over 40 per week. Installation windows often run 50+ hours a week.
  • \n
  • Assignment length: about one month per installation phase, with the possibility of additional phases.
  • \n
  • Schedule: nights, weekends, holidays and irregular shifts, set by transit agency track and station access windows.
